چکیده

Modern geographical information systems make it possible to integrate information from multiple sources in different forms for querying and analysing information. So the importance of geospatial databases is growing from day to day, and their applications extend beyond the traditional applications of geospatial databases and GIS. One of the most recent challenges is integrating geospatial data from heterogeneous sources with varied formats and positional accuracy into databases for GIS applications. Another research is required to integrate time into the databases because geospatial data and its applications are not always static. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of current status of researches and future trends in geospatial databases. * Corresponding author.

Integrative Environmental Queries Using Geospatial Web Services

The paper explores the use of geospatial web services for querying and analytical functions on distributed heterogeneous biological databases. A case study and web service implementation was tested on biological collections in Australia. Open geospatial specifications for web services were adequate for the test implementation, although some performance issues on XML-encoded data were identified...

Just - in - Time Mapping Scenario

M uch of the information that underpins the challenges facing society today—terrorist activities, global environmental change, natural disasters—is geospatial in nature. An everyday example of key geospatial data is the location of a cell phone user who has dialed 911 in an emergency. In terrorist situations, the origins and destinations of phone calls, travel patterns of individuals, dispersal...

A Real Time Semantic Interoperability Framework for Ad Hoc Network of Geospatial Databases: Disaster Management Context

Disasters are events that cross geographical, organisational and other human-made or natural boundaries. Therefore, disaster management requires that various geospatial data producers and users collaborate together in an ad hoc manner, despites their different background and contexts. While semantic interoperability is meant to support meaningful communication between geospatial databases, sema...

Ontop of Geospatial Databases

We propose an OBDA approach for accessing geospatial data stored in relational databases, using the OGC standard GeoSPARQL and R2RML or OBDA mappings. We introduce extensions to an existing SPARQL-to-SQL translation method to support GeoSPARQL features. We describe the implementation of our approach in the system ontopspatial, an extension of the OBDA system Ontop for creating virtual geospatia...
